Top 5 Friday – Why I Love Project Life!

Since becoming a Mom, I’ve struggled with finding the time to scrapbook. At the beginning of August I began Project Life and I am so pleased with how it’s coming along. It took me some time to find a sprojectlifedystem that works for me but now that I’m in the groove, I really appreciate this different scrapbooking concept.

It’s a great way to document every day, week or month of your life with pictures and
journalling in a scrapbook-esque kind of way, with as little or a much embellishing as you’d like! For those who are not familiar, check this out:  Becky Higgins – Project Life

This week’s Top Five Friday is all about: Why I Love Project Life!

1) Time: Scrapbooking being a hobby, I try not to set any goals and take my time so I can enjoy the creative process.projectlifecIn saying that, a 12×12 layout can take me several hours to complete depending on what techniques I’m using. What’s great about project life is that each little slot in the project life pages is like a miniature layout. I can easily take 20 minutes here and 10 minutes there to slip into my craft room and complete a “layout”. Simply put, project life gives me more time to MAKE the memories.

2) Inspiration: My creativity can be temperamental. Who says that the creative juices will be flowing during that 4 hour block of time set aside for crafting? Since the time factor is improved, Project Life allows me to embrace the natural flow of inspiration while giving me a continual outlet for my creative energy.

3) The simple things in life: Some weeks are fun-filled and exciting and my projecprojectlifebt life is filled with pictures of birthday parties, pumpkin picking or meeting Santa. The less eventful weeks might include highlights like cleaning out the closet or making a yummy dinner. I love that project life gives me the opportunity to remember and appreciate the simple things that bring me joy.

4) Supply bliss: Since I’ve started project life I’ve been tapping into the depths of my scrapbook supply stash and finding new ways to use things that never had much purpose in my prior crafting. I am using up more letters, numbers, journalling cards, arrows, tags and washi tape then I ever have, plus I am getting great use out of my slice.  It’s also nice to save your plane tickets, amprojectlifeusement park bracelet, coffee cup sleeves etc.and use them in the pockets alongside your photos.

5) There are no rules:  The design aspect of Project Life comes from defining your own rules.  Some weeks I use the pre-cut core kit cards and others I use my existing paper supply. Some weeks I embellish heavily, others I stick to mostly journalling. Some weeks I complete a half page, other weeks I use 2 or more pages.  There are no rules attached to project life so there are many ways to challenge your creativity. I love it!
